2008 Race Across America

On April 4,5,6, endurance coach/ athlete TRACY MCKAY, began his race season in the HOS500, Heart of the South 500. This is a 500 mile race, sanctioned by the UMCA and serves as a points race for the Americas Cup Series.   The HOS500 is in its 4th year and has hosted cyclists as far away as Denmark, France and England. Tracy led the race till mile 250 mark then fell back to play cat n mouse against, Angus Blair.  Tracy qualified for RAAM.

The race start and finish in Colonnade Blvd at the Hilton., The race route travels roughly 517 miles through north central and northeast Alabama, northwest corner of Georgia (over the mountain to Ellijay, Georgia, back to Piedmont, Alabama, to the top of Mount Cheaha) and then back to Birmingham. Climbing elevation: roughly 30,000 feet.

This is not a joy ride…. Cyclists and their crews will be racing day and night with minimum sleep in an effort to complete the 517 mile route within the 40 hour time limit… Each cyclist will be followed by a “crew” or team made up of diverse, responsible and competitive individuals whose job it is  to insure the safety of the cyclist as well as pushing them beyond their perceived limits. Drafting is not allowed and cyclists will be racing independent of a pack or peleton.

Sponsors needed to insure our success...

All of us love the underdog, the dark horse that comes from behind to win in the final stretch...It is natural for us to live vicariously through the exploits of others.  The risk taken is safer, more available and simply more timely...Others, take the risk...the risk to fail or to finish.  Winning is earned

My crew/ team and I will take the risk...We just want your support. Here's how you can be on the virutal crew.

Every once in awhile we get the opportunity to inspire, encourage and support someone in their endeavors. Sometimes we get to affect entire communities, cities, regions or even nations with our attempt at something great.

I believe that we are ALL catalyst for change. The difference is how much change we inspire and for what agenda
