With the last entry I could follow up with about agabillion lines of philosophical garbage but it would just take up space.
Let me get to the details of this training week -
Aside from my training, this past week sucked hard. Many things caught me off guard leaving me a bit raw and uncertain...Moments like this are good for the psyche though, it shakes us out of the trees that we sometimes get comfortable in.., ( going back the bear analogy )
But I am alive and well, last week didnt kill me because of a powerful little tool called "choice".
Sometimes what happens to us creates a belief system that can turn ugly and control the rest of our choices. A victim of our own self-depricating thoughts.
I had a pretty big training week to be finished up with 2 x 6 hour rides back to back.
The training week looked like this;

A proper eulogy -
The prior week i saw my grandfather buried. Although I did not know him very well, I knew him enough for the military funeral to play over and over in my mind.
'Taps' began to sound and was acutely aware of how tiny this gathering was...15 - 20 people?
The preacher tried desperately to say wonderful things about this man as if he knew him...truth is noone knew him all that well. He was retired master sgt./ Army a Vietnam vet, worked on tanks and cared a great deal for his son who has downs sydrome... He had a long white beard with with slick white hair combed back into a 50's sorta look. He playe ...

this is a little entry
much going on - as I said earlier the race is on and I have been designated as the "quasi - race director" working with Tom and Flo to make this race happen...All should go well we are on target with getting everything done, this is due to Tom Robertshaw's previous work on the race...
Currently looking for a Primary Sponsor for the race - Gold's Gym seems to be interested, as well as Stern Agee, we'll see....
Training is now taking its toll, my ass is sore! I wore a pair of LG shorts last night to train - I would'nt wash my dog with those...funny how we can spend a ton of money on seemingly great apparrel only to find out that its the worst during performance...
Physically - legs feel great growing in size - finished a cycle of creatinine / lglutamine trying maintain weight and speed recovery time seems to be working. My weight is constant 182 - 185...Body fat is at& ...

As I said training is strong...no problems with the back...I promised myself that I would try to make this a reality blog where I let you into my brain in reference to the race, the training and the likes...Not sure really where to start....hmmm.....how about here...
Physically -
body is good, weight is 184 after 3.5 hour ride and huge plate of food... I did use 1 water bottle myoplex protein plus water...3 water bottles/ water..no back problems.
Mentally -
hmmm, dont know what to do on this one....{tap tap tap}.....
missing a training session does not do me well...as with any athlete It makes me grouchy, and a little aggressive....
Emotionally -
I feel that this will be the best year I have had. It will bring its challenges though..

ALL IS GOOD...
I have been in contact with other cyclists and the race director. HOS500 is back on. Tom Robertshaw / race director for HOS500 is delegating the responsibilities out...I am a contact person for inquiry to the race as well as marking the route and other cyclists are helping to cover some other issues...
Lee Mitchell - a legend himself will be coming in from the west coast as well as John Hughes...these are big names in the world of ultra distance cycling...These guys will be running the directors table for the race....in other words if there is a problem...we have contact people.
There were several of us who were dedicated to racing the race whether there was sanctioning or not....
Training is great..I have hit about 95% of the training program I have outlined for myself...
Intervals are good and Im only into thye 4th week...Long hour rides are bit more difficult to ge ...

1 / 31 Week 4
I find myself feeling aggressive these days...This is partially due to the urge to play catch up due to the waiting period for my back and the desperate need to get in shape.
Bad news, Heart Of The South Director is sick and has cancelled the race...My crew chief emailed me and told me the news...without hesitation the both of us began brainstorming a solution...to keep the story brief, the HOS500 is in the Americas Cup series and basically the last chance for cyclist to qualify for the prestigious RAAM. HOS500 is also in its 4th year meaning it really has not yet matured but still has international recognition...Denmark, Britain and France have been represented at this race so it really needs to continue....
Okay I have Selfish and unselfish reasons...1. I want to rac ...
